What to expect from a growth group?

Come expecting to connect with people who are at different spots in their lives.  Our goal is to have everyone experience some sort of small group.  For adults, you can expect to:
  • meet 3X/month for 2hrs
  • spend some time sharing about your week and praising God by various means 
  • digging into a bible study that focuses on application to our lives
  • having a time of accountability, where people of the same sex will share and hold each other accountable, and pray for areas of concern and weakness so that we can become the people God has called us to be.
  • and finally you can expect some informal time to chat and perhaps taste some great snacks.
  • do some other activities that you plan with your group, based on your interests
 
Why Growth Groups?
 
We believe that God has given us the mission to make mature disciples of Jesus Christ.  This call is for every person who professes to follow Jesus and means that we will all take steps of obedience to grow to be like Him.  This happens in growing friendships where true accountability is present.  That's precisely what Jesus did, called 12 men to himself and walked with them for three years, then left them with the mandate to change the world by making mature disciples, like he had done.  So based on Jesus call to maturity and methodology, we are starting Growth Groups (small groups with a purpose) at Elim.  They are the best place for:
  • Sanctification (becoming like Jesus in Character through Bible Study focused on application), 
  • Fellowship (sharing our relationship with God together through accountability and prayer), 
  • Mutual care (where needs are being met), and 
  • People to investigate and starts to use their spiritual gifts.
